Homecoming mums are a Texan tradition that shows school spirit for the high school football team and the wearer's personality or interests. Over time, mums have evolved from a small, fresh flower with a few school color ribbons to what they are today - large, colorful, and loud! They certainly do have all the bells and whistles!

 

The wearer's grade level traditionally dictates the size of the mum:

• Single mums for freshmen and sophomores

• Double mums for juniors

• Triple mums for seniors (some of which are white and gold, or white and silver)

 

Today, tradition is of little concern for many students. For some, the bigger, the better. It really depends on how much one is willing to invest in their mum!
